The cast of characters includes Peter Pack Rat (our hero) and the Villains (boo, hiss!) – Riff Rat, leader of the Rats of Flatbush, Scrapper the junkyard dog, Sticky the spider, Nite Owl, Slugger the bat, Big Al the alligator, Diamond Jim the snake, and Clawd the cat.
Player controls Peter Pack Rat on his quest to collect treasures and bring them back to his nest. The bad guys try to stop him.
Peter Pack Rat consists of three different backgrounds: the Junkyard, the Sewer and the Tree. These backgrounds provide the setting for 15 levels of unique game play, if the player is skilled enough to complete level 15, further challenges remain.
Operators can tune game difficulty to suit any location using the Game Options screen to select the numbers of starting lives (2, 3, 4, or 5), the extra life conditions (none, 20,000, 25,000, 30,000 or 55,000 points) and overall game difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard or Harder).

Peter Pack Rat is the latest in a continuing series of top-earning conversion games designed for the revolutionary Atari System I. The game is available in the dedicated upright System I configuration and as a game kit which includes attraction panel decal, completely assembled control panel with graphics and a pop-in game board.
